Had a super fun weekend in the Bay. Spent some time thrifting and shopping in Berekely, Emeryville, Hayes Valley and Haight Ashbury and spent waaaay too much money. This striped tunic was one of my spoils!

Grey and black striped tunic - Thrifted
Black clasp belt - American Apparel
Black cami - Express
Black liquid leggings - Target
Brown boots - Target

Veggie Benedict

Also discovered some yummy places to eat with the help of Yelp and Foursquare. If you're in the area, be sure to check out any or all of the following:
House of Nanking, SF (Additional thanks to kagerade for the recommendation!)
Wally's Cafe, Emeryville (Great lentil soup, beef schwarma and baklava)
Doyle Street Cafe, Emeryville (Pictured is the veggie benedict from this place. So yum!)

Zappos is the bomb dot com

If you're a long-time reader of my blog, you've heard about my experiences with both J Crew and Nine West. Both experiences left me relatively satisfied despite the fact that I ended up with an orphaned bikini top from J Crew and a empty offer of a discount on a future order from Nine West. However, no customer service experience in online shopping has left me more satisfied that my experience with Zappos.com today.

Last Friday, I ordered a pair of boots from Zappos that I had been looking at for a while. I'm the sort of shopper that checks provided tracking numbers on at least a daily basis. I just like following the progress of my package, it's fun to me! So, today when my tracking number hadn't received any updates since it left Illinois early Monday morning, I was a little bummed out.

So naturally I turned to Twitter.
Photobucket
It was merely just a random thought of mine. I put it out there without any hopes or expectations of a response from anyone. It wasn't a complaint - my boots weren't late arriving. I was just curious to know where my boots were.

Oh.. and maybe I'm a little bit impatient. ;)

Well five minutes later, my TweetDeck alerts me to an @reply.
Photobucket
I DMed my order number and thanked them for looking into the matter.

A little while later I had an answer.
Photobucket
Wow. Seriously. I never expected they would call UPS for me.

And as if that wasn't enough...
Photobucket

I'm just blown away with the quick and kind service Zappos offers up to their customers. My matter wasn't even a big deal, but they treated me like it was and I couldn't appreciate it more. I can't say enough good things about Zappos and their amazing customer service. You can count on me to be a Zappos customer for life!

On a similar note, how cool is the Zappos map aka Mappos? I am fascinated!

Rewarded, at last!

I signed up on ebates.com for several months now. When you sign up, they give you a $10 giftcard to Circuit City, Target, iTunes or Sephora.

Since then, I've used ebates when shopping online several times. Whenever I want to buy something online, I pull up ebates first to see if that website is one of the many that you can get cash back from. Stores I've shopped at through ebates include Delia's, Sephora, Snapfish, Office Max, Frames Direct, Coastal Contacts, Barnes & Noble, and Buy.com.

I've also used a few coupon codes listed on their website. I've gotten free prints from Snapfish and I got a mini train case filled with samples from Sephora.

I've also referred several friends to ebates. For each friend referred, I get $5 and the friend gets $5. As of today, I've accrued over $65 in cash back. I'm due to get paid in February.

Despite knowing someone that has been paid over $100 from ebates, I've always wondered if I'd ever actually get the Sephora giftcard or if I'd ever get paid. Well, my Sephora giftcard finally showed up! Turns out this site is for real, it just is not instantaneous. You've got to be patient!

So I'd like to invite you all to check out ebates if you haven't already. Also, if you have signed up, be sure to use the site when shopping online, neither of us gets the $5 bonus until you've made a purchase through the site.

Check out Ebates and sign up today!

Calling all makeup lovers

Photobucket
I've been a long time fan of Nature's Source Mineral Cosmetics. I originally purchased a pigment stack from one of their mall kiosks a few years ago. Slowly I've been adding their products to my makeup collection ever since. I'll never need to buy eyeshadow again, I've got five different stacks of mineral pigment, colors for every look. I wear this product on a daily basis. I also love their mineral foundation which is available in a great combo kit or as a stand alone item.

Right now through November 26th, they're having a huge online promotion for their myspace friends. I can't tell you exactly what the promotion is, but I can assure you, I'm not missing this one and neither should you. If you like their products or want to try them out for the first time this is a great opportunity to stock up.

If you're not already one of their friends on myspace, make sure you add them as a friend so that you can read the bulletin that tells you exactly what the promotion is and what the code is to get it.

Well, Halloween is over. We're a week into November. I had to scrape snow and ice off of my car at 5:30 AM this morning. I just saw a commercial for "Utah's Official Holiday Music Station" on the TV.

However if you're just like me and haven't begun to even think about it, Kaboodle.com is here to save us with their Holiday Kit 'n Kaboodle. They've thought of everything for the holiday shopper! Have a look and maybe even create a holiday wishlist for yourself!

Help, I'm blind

Sorry, I know I haven't posted in eons. Last week was a crazy one with it being homecoming week and all. I'm happy to report that my girls did very well at the game and their halftime performance. I'm very proud of them. The football team had it's first homecoming game win in 12 years, so it was a pretty exciting win.
Also, my camera has kind of stopped working. I may be in the market for a new one...

I'm not really blind, but I cannot see anything but giant blurs without some sort of corrective lenses. I am currently shopping for new frames. This is something I haven't done in many years. I'm having fun picking out stuff online and putting them into a Kaboodle list. I found one site that lets you virtually try on frames. I took screen shots off of that site and decided to enlist the help of my Kaboodle friends to help me decide. They've already helped me narrow it down quite a bit, so I'm going for round two and decided to ask my blog readers to help as well.

Here are the choices:
Vera Wang V14
Miu Miu 06bv
Guess 1281
Calvin Klein 5520
Bebe Raquel
Bebe Made Up
Bebe Envy
Cosmo Moody
Candies C Ireland
Nine West 67

There are two other options that I've been considering, but they were from a different site that didn't have the virtual try-on system. You can see those frames and the ones that are out of the running on my Kaboodle list.
Let me just tell you that I didn't get to choose the color that they used when "trying on" frames, I'm more inclined to go for a neutral color that would match more things. It's just a coincidence that most of the frames came out in a pink or purple color.

So here is where I need your help. I would love for you to head on over to my list on Kaboodle and leave a comment on the frames you think I should get. If you really don't want to get an account on Kaboodle so that you can leave me a comment, I suppose you could leave a comment here.

Weekend recap

I know I'm late and at this point, most people probably don't care what I did this weekend, but for Marrdy's sake I'm gonna update you anyway.

Friday, I had to get off work early to ride the bus down to that night's football game with the squad. I tell you, forty-five minutes on a school bus in rush hour traffic can sure make a person sick. It wasn't too bad though because I had Gossip Girl on my iPod to occupy the time.

When we got to the school, we were walking onto the field and the first thing we see is a gigantic blow up tunnel for the team to go from the building to the field on. When they did finally come on to the field, there was smoke coming out of the entrance and dozens and dozens of balloons let go.

Next, we notice the have an AstroTurf field.

Then, we see a few of their cheerleaders walking down the track dragging big black boxes behind them. I could not for the life of me imagine what they were for. Once the game started, we had the answer.

Yes, ladies and gentlemen, they were cheering on top of the boxes. Wendy made a great point when she asked, "Isn't the point of going to a football game to watch the football game? The cheerleaders are just an added bonus that are there to support. Shouldn't the cheerleaders not be blocking the crowd's view of the game?" Those probably aren't her exact words, but I think I summed up her point pretty well.

The entire game my mind was struggling to come up with how this idea was conceived and how anyone could possibly think it was a good idea. The most movement they could do with their feet was the basic step-touch. When they got off the boxes to dance, they struggled with the choreography. Wendy made the observation that they probably aren't used to using their feet when they cheer so maybe that is why they couldn't dance.

To confuse my brain even further, Wendy's sister who is also a high school cheer coach told her that she knew of a school that cheered standing on top of bar stools. I don't know about you, but that just sounds outright dangerous to me.

I think Wendy, in her infinite wisdom, summed it up best when she told me that she was glad that she coached at a school that didn't have much money so that they didn't forget what a football game is really about. Couldn't have said it better myself.

Saturday, I spent some time with my sister at our father's house while I made a necklace.

That evening, Sean and I went to the state fair. As we were walking up to the ticket booth, out of nowhere, this girl handed me two passes to get in. Talk about right place at the right time. We browsed the booths and displays, sampled the array of carnival food and decided against going on any of the rides. I had a great time people watching, state fairs bring out all kinds of people. I had an awesome time there.

After the fair, we browsed up the mall for a bit. I ended up with some cute knee socks and a pair of tights. Can't wait for the weather to cool down now so I can start wearing them

Sunday, Sean and I went out to breakfast. Later, we had Sunday dinner at his house.

I was kind of a slacker with the camera this weekend and have no other pictures to show you. I'm gonna have to try to be better with the photos this week. Also, I picked up my laptop from my brother. We wiped the hard drive, I kind of welcome the clean slate. However, no one can quite remember the password for the internet at my house, so until someone does, I'm still not really able to connect at home. Sadly, this means posts will be scarce from me.

I'll be back soon though, so stick around!
XOXO Adiel

Buyer beware

I just wanted to share a little story with you all about my recent experience with the J crew website.

While browsing the web, as I have been known to do, I came across some cute flamenco bikinis clearance out on jcrew.com. I usually like to buy at least one swimsuit at the end of the season to take advantage of the end of season prices. All of the colors were so cute, I couldn't decide which to get. I let the availability choose for me. The first color choice that I found both the top and the bottom in my size was the "rich aqua". I purchased the set right away.

A week later, a package from J Crew was on my doorstep. When I opened it, the only thing I could find was the top. Confused, I checked the packaging again. No bottom. I pulled out the invoice/packing slip. No mention of the bottom. I started to doubt myself, maybe I hadn't actually purchased the set. I went online to check my purchase. I wasn't crazy, I had indeed ordered both items. Knowing shopping online can get a little nuts sometimes, I just assumed that they shipped the items separately for some reason. I let the matter go.

Two days later, I get an email telling me that my order had been "inventory cancelled". Are you kidding me?! Any moron should be able to realize that sending me a top without the matching bottoms makes the top useless to me. Seriously, why not at least contact me to see if I still wanted the top before they charged me and shipped it to me? I would've even taken another color just to get the matching set. These items are "final sale", I was stuck with the top and no bottom. I quickly went online to find an alternative bottom to order. However, when I got there, I realized that the item I had ordered was still available on the website.

Confused, I called jcrew's customer service line. The rep kindly explained to me that their website has had problems updating the stock of merchandise, especially when it's clearanced merchandise. She was very helpful and was able to order an alternative size for me. She then told me that should my order get cancelled again, she had made a note on my order that I should be allowed to return the "final sale" item. She was also kind enough to waive the shipping fee. However, I was absolutely stunned that even a real live person working for the company couldn't tell me whether or not the item was actually in inventory. How does a business operate like that? I fail to understand. However I was hopeful that this order would work out in my favor so I thanked the helpful woman and went about my day.

The next morning, sure enough, another email showed up telling me that my order had been cancelled.
At that point, I was just fed up with the whole matter.

I love the top, so I'm keeping it. Therefore, I'm now on a mission to find cute bottoms to wear with it. However, I will not be scoping out jcrew.com for these bottoms.

Keep your eyes open for me. I'm not counting on finding any plain bottoms in that exact blue color so I'm guess that I'll have to go with something in white. If you see anything that might work for me, send it my way!

Two things I hope you take away from my experience are that J Crew has very helpful customer service reps that tried to make things right for me, but their inventory tracking system needs some work so be aware that "item in stock" isn't always what it seems when shopping online.

Houndstooth skirt

The other day I came across a houndstooth skirt on eBay. I'm a teeny bit in love with all things houndstooth so I snatched it up with the "buy it now" feature for a pretty decent price. I'm the sort of eBayer that pays it right away, I've always found it strange that there is usually a few days allowance to pay.

Forty-eight hours later, I have the gorgeous skirt in my hands. For that reason I wanted to give a shout out to Mel and her eBay store Mel's Shoppe Vintage. That is the absolute fastest I've received something that I bought online. I am beyond pleased.

30% off at urbandecay.com

I just saw this over on The Scented Life and I had to share it with you all. Urban Decay is sharing their friends and family discount with everyone until August 28th. I've heard people raving about the Eyeshadow Primer Potion. Supposedly it is the best product out there to stop eyeshadow from creasing. I have never gotten around to trying it yet though. This seemed like the perfect excuse to order it so I just bought it at 30% off at urbandecay.com! Use the promotion code FFL30 at checkout.

Ebates revisited

Last week I told you about a website that I had discovered called ebates. Just a quick recap, Ebates is a website that gives you money back for the things you're already shopping for online. Just quickly scanning through the list, I've seen many, many websites that I'm already shopping on regularly.

Friday, I had realized that I had not pre-ordered Breaking Dawn yet so I went on Ebates, found Barnes & Noble on their list, clicked on the link to the site and I was all set up. There was nothing else to do but shop for the book. Two days later I got notice that my cash back had been credited to my account. Easy.

So here is what I suggest, take a few minutes right now to sign up so it is all done. Then, when you decide to buy something online, stop by Ebates first to see if the store you'd like to shop at is part of the ebates program. Don't forget, if you sign up using my referral, we'll each get a $5 bonus when you make your first purchase!

Click here now to sign up!

Quick side note, my weekend recap may not be published till tomorrow. I'm waiting on some pictures that I know you'll want to see.

Ebates

Just heard about this website from a friend on Kaboodle. It sounded interesting and I shop online all the time so I figured I'd try it out. I haven't actually used it as I don't have any purchases to make at the moment, but when I do I'll tell you more about it. For now what I know is that Ebates is a shopping site that gives you up to 25% Cash Back every time you shop online. You can shop at over 900 stores including Sephora, Zappos, Barnes & Noble.com, West Elm, Target, Victoria's Secret, Bluefly, eLUXURY and Expedia. Plus you get additional savings with exclusive coupons, free shipping offers, and limited-time sales!

If you decided to sign up with Ebates, we'll each get a $5 bonus when you make your first purchase! If you already shop online, what do you have to lose?

Happy shopping!

*Update* I just used Ebates to pre-order Breaking Dawn on Barnes & Noble.

Weekend recap.

After work on Friday, I had to run some errands. I ended up at Target and decided that storing my shoes in laundry baskets has gotten pretty ridiculous. I was looking for some shelves that I thought might work. They didn't have anything that I loved, but I found some melamine shelves for just $12 so I decided to give them a try. I also tried on a bunch of things from the Go International line and I left with these three items.

I don't know if I love the way the shorts look on me and I don't know what to wear that red top with so they might go back to the store. I love the black top though. I wore it this weekend. I also got a studded belt for only $2.50, I'm going to have to get creative with it though.

When I got home from Target I put together the shoe shelves, but there were a couple problems. My high heels don't fit too well in the allotted space, not all of my shoes fit on the shelves and there isn't really enough room for my clothes to hang and my shelves. See for yourself:
I need more closet space.
Or less clothes and shoes.
If you have any suggestions for my storage problems, let me know.

Later that night, Sean and I met up for dinner and then we went to see the 10:20 showing of The Dark Knight. Wow, that movie brought out the crowds. There were so many people there and we kept running into people that we knew. All I'm going to say about the so I don't spoil it for anyone is that it was long. We didn't get out of the theater till about 1 AM. It was so worth it though.

Saturday, I spent a good portion of the day reading more of The Host. Reading of course led to me falling asleep.

My little brother got his mission call this week. We all went over to my dad's house for him to open it. While we were waiting for everyone to show up, there was a little DDR going on. Randall's girlfriend Jacquie was also taking votes of where he might go. After opening the letter, the news is that Randall will be serving a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in the Quito Ecuador mission. He will be leaving October 1st. I'm super proud of my brother and I will be sad to see him leave, but I think its great that he's doing the things he believes in.

After leaving my dad's, I went with a bunch of my friends down to Keys on Main. It was my first time there and I had a great time. It was nice to just relax and hang out with my friends.
[Christina and I]

[The girls]

[Traci and I]

Sunday, I spent more time reading and nearly finished the Host. Later, Sean and I went down to Gateway for some delicious food at Happy Sumo. After eating, we walked around the mall for a bit. Surprisingly enough, in the hour we spent there, I didn't buy a single thing. I did get to check out a few of the things I've been eyeing online. The only bad thing about this wonderful afternoon is when I got pooped on by a bird, smack dab on top of my head. So gross!

When we got home, we watched The Island. I had never seen that movie before, and despite hearing many bad things about it, I've always wanted to. Turns out, I quite liked it.

That was my weekend. I was kind of lame and didn't get a single full-bodied outfit picture. I'll have to be more diligent with it from now on.

Hope you all had good weekends as well!

Nine West

Yesterday, I mentioned some issues I had with my recent order from Nine West.

Today, I was contacted via email by the Vice President for marketing of Nine West regarding my order. After getting a bit of information from me, she let me know that she would look into why I wasn't notified of either the back order status of the one pair or the shipment of the other pair that I ordered.

Next thing I know, I get a call from a representative of their company. She explained to me how their back order process generally works and their new system that allows them to ship merchandise from any of their stores rather than just from their website inventory.

It is also their policy that emails are sent out to notify of items being on back order as well as when the items are shipped. The email I received at the time of purchase does state "You will be contacted by e-mail when your order leaves our distribution center. At that time you will be provided with a UPS tracking number if you selected UPS Ground, UPS Express or UPS Next Day Business delivery."

The fact that I did not receive those emails is some sort of a fluke. The representative offered to waive all shipping charges, but I had already had a coupon code for free shipping so she offered a discount on my next purchase instead.

Shortly after that, I received another call informing me that they had located the pair that was on back order, that they would ship tomorrow at the latest and I should be receiving them within 5 business days. As stated yesterday, I did receive the first pair yesterday, on the third business day following my order. I love the shoes, like I've said, Nine West has great product.

As challenged, Nine West stepped up and has completely changed my opinion on their customer service. They went above and beyond to make sure that I, as a customer, was completely satisfied.

And I am.

Obsessions: I want it all

I want, I want, I want.
Why must there always be something that I want?
I sound like Veruca off of Willy Wonka!

After moving, it took some time for the Victoria's Secret catalog to catch up with me. By the time that it did, it was all clearance stuff, nothing new. Boring.
Well yesterday I got my fall preview catalog. As usual, I want pretty much everything in it. Blazer, skirt, dress, tops; what should I get?
Go figure.

After buying the AA Bandeau Dress and finding out how much I loved it, I've been wanting more colors in it and in the pencil skirt version as well. How will I decide which of the many colors to get and which version first?

After seeing two great scarf outfits online by inspiration and SLC Socialite, I'm officially on the hunt for a great scarf. I spent all day looking and I couldn't decide on anything. I'm much too indecisive.

I think my obsession with these shoes started after seeing them on Taghrid. I want them ever so bad!

I've officially fallen for the romper trend. I have no idea if I can pull it off, but I'm will to try with this romper. So yeah, I want it!

I have been obsessing over this skirt for a while now so I went into American Apparel to try it on. Yeah, it didn't look as hot on me and I have no idea what I'd wear with it so I left the store without it. The trouble is I still want it. Why? I'm not sure. Maybe I'd like this other skirt more.
Or, maybe I want them both...

In general, I've been obsessed with adding blazers, skirts and jackets to my wardrobe. I've got ideas in my head of what I want, but I'm not sure if these ideas exist in the real world. I really just need to get a sewing machine ASAP and start making my own clothes. I've been down this road before and it ended with me giving up because I have no idea what I need to be looking for in a sewing machine. Any tips?

So those are my current wants/obsessions.
What will I get? I may have three jobs, but I can't buy them all!

Weekend recap.

Another weekend, come and gone!

Friday after work, I had to go find a dress to wear to Steph's wedding. I headed for the Gateway and started out at Forever 21. I actually ended up finding a lot of stuff to try on there. I narrowed it down to two dresses (this or that with this belt). I decided on the black dress with the belt, but as I was standing in line, I found another black dress that looked cute. I decided to buy it without trying it on. I left with the two dresses, the belt, a clutch and and a vest.

Next, I went to Urban Outfitters in search of a certain dress. I couldn't seem to find it, but I did walk past a pair of Lux Cigarette Leg gray jeans. I've been wanting to buy a pair for a while now, so I tried them on and ended up getting them. I thought that they were a pair that was on my wishlist, but turns out the pair that I bought aren't available online. I had a hard time deciding on whether or not I should keep them because there was another pair on my wishlist that I really wanted. Just barely today I decided that I will keep them.

After shopping, I met up with Phil. We went out to dinner at The Dodo and then we went to see You Don't Mess With The Zohan. Oh. My. Lame. Honestly, I laughed a little, but most of the time I was shaking my head and rolling my eyes. Really, I could've gone the rest of my life without seeing Adam Sandler thrusting his stuffed crotch that much. It was also way too long. Two hours is pretty long for a comedy, I kept thinking, "Man this is a long movie!" So, yeah, I'd recommend skipping this one.

Saturday, I had to go to the cheer girls' car wash. The weather was alright. It was one of those days that it was warm in the sun, but cold in the shade. Whenever the clouds were covering the sun, it was so cold. I felt bad for the girls because they had to get wet and wash cars. I just sat huddled in my blanket most of the time. They did well though, it was nice to see so many people come out and support them.

That night I went to Steph's wedding reception. It was fun to see people that I don't see on a regular basis and get a chance to chat. The colors were black and red, Steph had picked out these super cute black dresses with white polka dots. They all wore red jewelry and shoes, it was so cute! I didn't have my camera so when I steal pictures from Nicole, I'll post them up for everyone to see.

Sunday, I finally got caught up with the rest of Season 4 of The Office. The finale was awesome. There were a ton of OMG moments, I can't wait for the next season now! Sean and I went for brunch and then we browsed around Cabela's. I found out that they have their own restaurant there, which I found mildly strange. Later, we went to see Iron Man, which I ended up really liking.

Gray jeans

I've been wanting gray jeans ever since I created my Desaturated list on Kaboodle.

As usual, I'm indecisive. Pick the ones you think would look best!

A temporary cure.

Saturday night, amidst all the drama, I lost my debit card somewhere between the restaurant and the bar. I had to cancel my card and get a new one. Well the guy at the bank said that he has to cancel all the cards attached to my account and issue new ones. Thats all fine and dandy of course.

The thing is I've found a temporary cure for my increasingly bad online shopping habit. Everytime I go to purchase something online, I pull out my wallet and once again realize that my debit card is missing and my credit card is no good. So really, until I get my new cards, I can't online shop.

On the bright side, maybe my want of all these items will pass in the next few days.

[I really doubt that.]

What is a good pair worth?

An excerpt from my Kaboodle blogazine:

"We're talking jeans here people.

I've never really wanted to spend much money on denim before. I think the most I've ever spent on a pair of jeans is probably $70 or so, but that was probably only once or twice in my life.

I've found a pretty reliable brand for jeans..."

New shoes!

I've been slow coming around to the gladiator sandal trend. At first I detested it, but then it slowly started to grow on me. Then I saw these shoes:
I'm not sure what it is about them, but I love them! For $23 I figured this was a perfect chance to try a trend that I've been on the fence about. It comes in black, white, tan and camel, but I really wanted to camel color. The only had one size left in that color, lucky for me it was half a size smaller than what I normally wear. After thinking for it about for like 15 minutes, I decided that I would take the chance and hope that they'd fit. Its a good thing I didn't wait too long because now they only have three colors left in very limited size selection.

They were a little difficult to actually get on, but once they were on, the fit great.

Now I just need to figure out what to wear them with.

New Goal... maybe...

So I was thinking...
like I do sometimes...
all the time actually...

I do a lot of shopping in my dinky little Utah mall. I do a lot of shopping online.
Maybe I should save up my money all summer and take a shopping/blackjack trip to Vegas at the end of the summer.

I could try not to shop all summer.
Really, I could.

Who is with me?

Weekend recap.

Friday I decided I couldn't watch the Jazz game. Too much stress. Glad I didn't because it sounds like it was a heartbreaker. *tear*
Instead, I went out and about with a friend.
Here are a few pictures of me on friday night.

Yeah, I'm hot

A more normal face...

I'm sporting the O-gloss and O-glow here...
Can you tell? What do ya think?

Saturday, Steph and I went shopping in preparation for Lake Powell. Later we met up with Suzi and Aline to get pedicures.

After pedicures, Suzi, Aline and I went shopping. I got a pair of denim shorts from Express, let me tell you these are the first pair I've purchased since I was probably 16. Suzi had her daughter there and I ended up holding her a lot. All I have to say is you people with kids must have buff arms. She's pretty much 25 lbs of dead weight when asleep!

Saturday night I got dinner and watched a movie with a friend. Cafe Rio is now open till 11 on the weekends. I'll bet you didn't know that, because when we went there after ten, no one was there! We were the only ones.

Sunday morning I had a craving for IHOP, random, I know. So we went out to "breakfast" at 1pm. I'm a sucker for their stuffed french toast. Yum!

Traci and her family got back from Hawaii Sunday morning so I got to catch up with all of them. I'm no longer all alone in that big house and now the dogs can have more attention, because lets face it, I don't give them what they need. Traci brought me back a cute little pineapple keychain, it was very nice of her. It was also nice to have someone to go for a run with that night.

Also, just in case you were wondering, I challenged "Bob" to buy some new shoes this weekend. He did not. I guess he needs some more encouragement.

Product Review - My Sephora Order

I finally got my Sephora.com order last friday. I had a chance to try the stuff out over the weekend.
That big box for this small product...

I love the Smashbox products, O-glow and O-gloss. The color is a prefect, natural color for spring and summer.

The Fiberwig Mascara is outstanding. It was definitely worth the splurge, my lashes looked fantastic. One delightful discovery about the mascara is the way it comes off. Instead of blackening the area around the eye, it comes off in clumps.

The eyebrow trimmer brush is a great invention. Now I can have perfectly groomed brows without leaving it up to the hand of other people.

I will most likely purchase these products again and I would definitely recommend all four of them.

I just read on DarkUFO's Lost Blog that Amazon is having a sale on their Lost DVD. All three seasons for $80 instead of $180. If you've been wishing you owned those DVDs or have been wanting to get caught up on that show, now is your chance!

Obsessions: the color gray!

One of the colors that I'm in love with this season is gray!

In honor of that obsession, I created a new Kaboodle list full of items in shades of gray.

I filled mostly with stuff that is already on other lists of mine, but I also searched out a few new items as well. One of the new items happened to be skinny jeans made out of gray denim. I think I'm in love. I want a pair so bad now!

I'm also obsessed with the colors pink and yellow too. rubyslippers beat me to the punch with her yellow themed list Hey Sunshine! Pink lists are overdone on kaboodle, so I decided to skip that...

Just thought I'd share my obsession...

Weekend recap.

Its that time again...

Friday, I went with a few people to P.F. Chang's for dinner. This was my second time ever going there and I quite enjoyed it. Later we went to a movie at The Gateway, which let out not too long after the Jazz game. Lucky us, we got stuck in the post-game traffic jam. It made me majorly carsick and I ended up having to call it a night at that point.

Saturday was Stephanie's bridal shower. It was good to see lots of girls from high school that I hadn't seen or talked to in a while. After the shower, Nicole and I went to the mall. I purchased the shoes that won in the Help me Choose from last week. I also purchased some great spring/summer clothes. The day ended up taking a lot out of me so I bailed out on my evening plans and just took it easy at home.

Sunday morning, Traci, Mike and I went for a run. The weather was gorgeous. It felt so good to be outside in the sun. I got cocky and tried to race Mike at the end, but he totally beat me.

Later I went to Tonya's farewell party/Mike's graduation party. Kellie had so much good food there. I probably ate 42 strawberries! We watched the Jazz throw away the first game against the Lakers. I can't stand watching Kobe Bryant's smug face when he plays. I was hoping that the Jazz would win so I could see Andy do a headstand. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next game. I had a great time meeting all of Mike and Tonya's friends and family. I'm really going to miss Tonya when she is gone!

After the party, I was ready for bed I guess because I went home and passed out.

Not as eventful as some of the others, but it was a good one!

My new love. ♥

I found a new love yesterday.
Some of you may have already had a long-term relationship or quick fling with my new love.
I've been tempted for a long time and I was slow in coming around, but yesterday I caved.

I ♥ Sephora.com

I hadn't thought of shopping on Sephora.com till I joined Kaboodle. For over a year, I've had items from Sephora creeping onto my wishlist and other lists. I can't really say why I never actually purchased anything until now, but I hadn't.

Yesterday I went a little crazy and bought a whole bunch of stuff off my wishlist.

O-Gloss

O-Glow

Eyebrow Trimmer/Brush

Fiberwig Mascara

Now I'm going crazy waiting for the stuff to get here. Shopping online kind of stinks in that aspect.

I love that Sephora offers free shipping, free gift wrap, free returns and free samples on every order. Thats a lot of free! I would definitely recommend this site based on my initial shopping experience.

Can't wait to get the product and share my thoughts on it all.

My new jacket!

First off, thank you to everyone that voted on the "Help Me Choose". I went with the motorcycle jacket. Heather with Bona Drag told me that she'd be shipping the jacket to me on 5/7, so naturally I was pleasantly surprised when it showed up yesterday.

I loved the addition of the Bona Drag mixtape volume three. It is full of great music!

On Kaboodle, one of the people asked me for some pictures, so here you go...

Continuing my backless bra review

As promised on friday, I wore the new backless bra when I went out on Friday so I'll share my thoughts with you here.

When I wear the bra, it does not sit close to my body like a normal bra should, but both Nicole and Traci assured me that you couldn't tell and that it looked great. So despite the fact that I wasn't entirely comfortable, I wore it out to dinner. I was slightly uncomfortable with having to adjust it so much, but not unbearably so. Nicole got some pictures on her camera, so hopefully I can get those from her and get some shots up here for you all to see.

When we got back to Chaz's apartment and decided we were going dancing, I knew there was no way that I could dance freely and keep that bra on at the same time, so I slipped on the back-up camisole.

I'm stubborn though, I really want to make this bra work because I love the backless look so much. I'm determined to find a way.

Weekend recap.

Another weekend has come and gone. As usual, I can't help wondering how I spent my time because the weekend just flies by. Thats what my weekend recaps are for, a chance to reflect.

Friday I went out with some people I don't normally hang out with, Nicole, the guy she's dating and their friends. We went out to Rodizio for dinner. Now, I'm not a huge fan of eating most meat. I'm not a vegetarian, I'm just a picky eater. My first experience with Rodizio wasn't great so I wasn't thrilled that thats where we were going to eat. However, this time was much better, no pink chicken!

After playing Wii at Chaz's house, we went to the Sky Bar because it was one of their friend's last night working there. Chaz caught me in the eye with corner of a menu and now there is a cut on my eyelid! The best part was the token old-guy-loner that was asking everyone to dance. He even offered $5 for a dance! We all had a good time dancing, despite the fact that I wore the absolute wrong shoes for dancing. My feet were dying by the end of the night, but Phil was a good sport and gave me a piggy back. So Friday was a pretty fun night.

Saturday, my friend Rosa and I went downtown to mess around with her new camera. Her camera is awesome, I totally want one. We had a fun little photoshoot and got some pretty good photos out of it. Here are a few pictures from the shoot. See the rest here.

After the photoshoot, I went to my dad's to catch up on some TV on DVR. I'm not going to lie, I love watching TV. Between three jobs and personal stuff, I don't have a lot of time for it these days. So on the weekends when Lisa's kids are away with their dad, I have to go spend a few hours watching all of my shows. I finally got to watch The Office, ANTM, Lost and Ghosthunters. For some blasted reason, the DVR didn't get One Tree Hill or Grey's Anatomy. Sad, but I have little time to dwell on it. Back home, Traci and I had a little mini girls night with some good snacks and watched a movie.

Sunday, Traci and I had a little shopping adventure. First we went to get pedicures, thats always a relaxing time. Then we visited two malls and shopped the day away. I got a lot of fun stuff for the spring and summer. I'm so thrilled that the weather is warming up so that I can start wearing it. I tried to add most of it to Kaboodle, so feel free to check out my list of things that I have. Also, I was incapable of deciding on sandals to buy, so help me choose by voting here.

My weekend definitely went by too fast, can't wait for the next!

No wardrobe malfunctions please.

Ever since I bought the new backless bra from Maidenform, I've been obsessed with open-back, backless, and keyhole tops and dresses. When a friend on Kaboodle found this particular top, I had to buy it. I'm obsessed with yellow this season, along with pink and gray.

I still haven't figured out how to make the backless bra stay on properly other than having perfect posture and not leaning forward. I'm going to chance it and wear the combo when I go out tonight. To be safe, I'm going to slip my cami with the built in bra into my purse in case I find myself in a sticky situation. I hope it works out, because I've always loved the open back look.

If you've figured out a way to keep the bra on, please let me know. If you've also purchased this bra, I'd love to hear what your thoughts are on it.

Weekend recap.

What a weekend. My entire life changed.

Friday I got to do a friend's hair and makeup for her. Thats always kind of fun. Then I went shopping with Suzi, thats always a fun time. Then I went home and got my heart and life ripped to shreds but Sean's evil twin. Traci came home and brought me some Gatorade which I thought was brilliant.

I couldn't sleep very well so I woke up bright and early on saturday. I talked to my mom for a bit. Once I managed to get out of bed and shower, I went to my dad's. I talked to my stepmom for a while, and that helped me out a bit. Then I became overcome with exhaustion and went to take a nap for a bit. After I woke up, I went to Happy Sumo and then shopping with Suzi. She is such an absolute doll. What a great friend. Later I went to a late dinner with my siblings, Amy and Jacquie. That turned out to be a nice distraction. Then after finding out Sean is an even bigger jerk than I ever could've possibly imagined, I went home and took a sleeping pill then passed out.

The sleeping pill turned out to be bad news because it made me sleep through my alarm and miss my work meeting at panty heaven/hell. I watched a trashy movie about breakup that made me feel better for a bit. Then after chatting with Traci for a bit, I sat down and watched the ANTM marathon on MTV. I had seen that cycle way too many times so I ended up falling asleep some more. After that, I went to my dad's for Randall's birthday dinner. There were so many people there, yet I managed to fall asleep once again. Crying that much sure takes a lot out of you. Dinner with the fam was nice. After that, I went home and watched Juno with Traci.

That was my crazy, life-changing, eventful weekend.
Hope you enjoyed my recap of it.

freeshippingon.com

My favorite local morning radio show, Radio From Hell, has a segment they call Jake of the Web. On that segment they share a few websites with the listeners. Today, they had one that I felt like sharing with all of my friends on here.

freeshippingon.com

Apparently this site helps you find free shipping on most of the things you shop for. I think this is great because I really hate having to pay the cost of shipping sometimes.

If you end up using this website, please leave a comment telling me what you thought about it.

Product Review - Backless Bra

Last Friday, I ordered Maidenform's New Backless Bra. On the website, it said it was available for preorder, but when I went to order it, the black was available, the nude color was on backorder. I decided to just order the nude color and wait. Well, not even an hour later, I got an email telling me my order had shipped. Shocked, but pleased, I started tracking it on DHL's website. It arrived yesterday so I got to try it out last night.

First impression, I'm not a fan.

The part of the bra where the wire is has a rubber lining I suppose to help it stay in place. I thought that was great so I adjusted the straps and put it on. Once its in place, it looks great, you think its gonna work. However, the minute I started moving, it started moving out of place. I put my keyhole shirt on thinking it might help the bra to stay in place. Yeah, not so much. I have bad posture so the minute my shoulders relax and roll forward, the cups are no longer where they should be.

Another issue I had is the straps sit on the outer edge of your shoulder so they were hanging out of my tank top. This is something I find to be really tacky.

I'm gonna give it another try, however I'm not confident that this is something I could wear out in public yet. If anyone figures out how to keep the cups in place or keep the straps hidden, let me know. I really wanted this bra to work.

Weekend recap.

I had a lot on my mind this weekend so my good friends decided to take my mind off things. Suzi, Aline and I went out to dinner on Friday night. Later it was back to Suzi's house for guitar hero and pool. It was nice to go out and not have much time to think too hard about things.

[Aline, Suzi and I - They make me look super tall!]

Saturday I did some Target browsing. This is something that always seems to cheer me up. I found a really cute pair of sunglasses and not much else. I wanted to buy a top and a dress I had previously tried on from the Jovovich-Hawk line, but of course they were sold out. I almost bought a couple books, but ended up putting them back. As usual, I couldn't decide on what jewelry to buy. No DVDs sounded good. It didn't matter that I didn't leave with much, I still felt better after I left.

[The new shades]

I spent a good part of the rest of my Saturday relaxing and watching seasons 8 and 9 of Friends. That show is great to keep your mind off things and make you laugh. Later, Ally, Savy, Aline, Suzi and I went bowling. I've decided that I'm much better at Wii bowling and maybe I should stick to that.

Polyvore

I rediscovered Polyvore today. I signed up on that site about 5 months ago, but never did anything with it. I was apprehensive about trying it out. This morning however I decided to give it a try. After messing around with it for a bit, I published my first set.

What do you think?
I went to buy that dress last week, but its on backorder till May. This would be an outfit I'd buy if I could.

Tuesday, March 11, 2008

Last week I finally broke down and handed over some of my hard earned cash in exchange for a laptop schticker. I've been wanting to create one for many months as none of their designs had ever stood out to me before. I've just never had time to be creative and make an exciting design. However, while browsing their site once more a couple weeks back, I finally found a design that I loved.

So I ordered it right away.

It finally arrived yesterday via USPS. It took just a touch longer than I expected to arrive due to the fact that it took a few days after I made my purchase for the product to actually ship. No big deal though. I'm still pleased.

After I got home from panty hell/heaven, I got a chance to put it on. It was perfect, no trimming required. I love it. I think I'll still eventually design my own to put on there. Just need to find some time...

I think this product is pretty fun because its removable and reusable. You could have one schticker or you could have several, you could switch it up as often as you'd like. I believe they are all about $20, but they are offering free shipping on all orders over $30. Let me know what you think if you order one!

Its here!

Its here, its finally here!
Based off the vote from my friends on Kaboodle, I finally picked out a purse and bought it.

When picking out purses to purchase, The main thing I had in mind was to go a touch bigger so that my camera would fit better in with all of my stuff. Based on that, I came up with 6 choices which I mentioned in this post. The "Help Me Choose" function helped my indecisive self purchase a purse nicely.

It arrived at my office yesterday afternoon. I knew right away I was in trouble, the box the UPS guy brought in was huge! I dropped what I was doing and opened it right up.

I knew it was gonna be big, after all thats what I was looking for, but this was much more than expected. I had read the dimensions so I thought I was prepared, but I underestimated big time. It definitely has room for my camera! Its a bottomless pit!

Its huge but I'm sure I'll quickly get used to it!

Why are all the cute ones so much?

I recently decided that I need to buy a new purse. I broke my personal record and have carried my current purse for 14 months. Its a great quality purse so its no wonder I haven't wanted to switch it up or even look for another, but I think its time for a change.

So, I went to my favorite website Kaboodle.com to get advice from my trusty Kaboodle companions. They all have so much great stuff on their lists, the thing is they all cost a gazillion dollars. Unfortunately, I'm a girl on a budget. I wish that wasn't true, but thats my reality. I'm terribly sorry, but I simply cannot justify dropping a months salary on a bag, no matter how stunning or beautiful or trendy it is.

So how can I find a great quality bag that I'll fall in love with and not spend so much money? I don't want to HAVE to carry my next purse for 14 months just to justify the cost of it.

*update*
So Kaboodle friends save me again!
I found a great website thanks to a friend on there.
I narrowed it down to six, but I really can't buy them all. So I created two polls. Help me narrow down the style and color!

I ask this favor of you.

I work a couple nights a week at a certain lingerie store in the mall for fun. I've worked there for a long time and in that time I've experienced many things that I'd really rather never had experienced. These things must stop so that this job may remain fun.

From time to time, the company mails out coupons for discounts on bras and free panties. The free panties that are usually offered are our basic panties in the basic solid colors. You people that get all worked up that you can't get the exact style or fancy pattern that you wanted are driving me nuts! Its a FREE panty! This is not something you are entitled to, this is something that the company offered to you as a customer. You do not have a right to yell at me and degrade me for offering you EXACTLY what is printed on the coupon. Stop complaining about free stuff!

I am fully aware that I work at a lingerie store and part of my job is to make sure that the bras you are purchasing are fitting you correctly. When I'm manning the fitting rooms, I do go into rooms and see women in their bras to check the fit. However, I do not find it appropriate for you to try on the peek-a-boo bras and camisoles then proceed to leave your room to seek me out to see how it looks on you. I have no desire to see you in lingerie at all, let alone see your nipples poking out in the peek-a-boo space. Stop it. Bring your best girlfriend along to help you shop if you're not sure how things look on you all by yourself.

Speaking of fitting rooms, have you ever heard of the "swimsuit rule"? If you absolutely must try on the underwear before you buy it, please try them on OVER your own underwear, just like you do with swimwear. I thought this was common sense. I thought wrong. You women that try on the garments and leave behind mystery stains disgust me. I do not want to have to go in a pick up that stained thong off the fitting room floor after you so rudely discarded it there.

I do not have children so I cannot fully understand how hard they must be to keep under control. However, if you can't stop your children from wheeling along at full speed through my store on those stupid little heelies then take them away. Seems simple enough. It is absolutely not okay for those children to be treating the mall as a roller skating rink. Guess what, there are entire business dedicated for just that sort of thing. If you're having trouble locating a spot for that activity, contact me, I can help.

Working at this store has made me realize why some establishments do not allow you to bring food and drink inside. Most people are perfectly capable of bringing a smoothie or a pretzel in with them while they browse the store and not make a mess. There are the exceptions of course. Thank you for leaving your corn dog on top of the makeup when you decided you no longer wanted it. Thank you for putting your now cold coffee on top of the panty table. Don't worry about that garbage can that was 4 feet away from you, I would love to pick up after you. Also, the people that let they're kids eat while they are shopping must desist immediately. Sweeping up your kid's crushed Nilla Wafers or chocolate muffin off the vast marble floor is just what I needed to wrap up my night.

One of the duties as an employee on the floor there is to keep the panties on top of the table straight. I don't mind it so much. Its not a hard task. I do however mind when you look me in the eye, see me straightening said panties and then proceed to tear my nights hard work apart right in front of my face. Don't mind the fact that I offered to help you find your size in the drawers. I love staying all night re-straightening.

I don't know about you, but if I'm somewhere and the places closes, I leave. When we shut off the music, that should be your first clue that maybe you should hurry and make your purchase. When you're suddenly outnumbered by employees 6 to 1, that should also clue you in to hurry up and make your purchase. Do not proceed to continue browsing and trying things on until we've been closed for half an hour. It is not a good thing when mall security has to come force us to get you out and close the store so that they can lock the mall down. The longer you stay at our store, the longer we all have to stay. You're keeping us from sleep, homework and our families. Be courteous.

Men shopping at this store usually makes for a pretty interesting experience. I understand most of you probably have no idea where to start when you go in there, but we need to lay down some ground rules. Its is absolutely not okay for you to size me up and compare me to your girlfriend/wife. Its rude and it makes me uncomfortable. It is also not okay to ask me to try on the lingerie for you because I am "pretty close to her size". You creep. If you're unsure of her size, guess. The stuff can be exchanged. Please refrain from gawking and drooling over the mannequins and the poster of the models. I don't want to see that. If you must, get the catalog and do it in the privacy of your own home.

I know this is a lot of complaints about my "fun" job, but trust me. Even though this list is long, the list of good out weighs the bad. Therefore I stay. However, if you could please help me out by not doing the aforementioned things, I would be ever so grateful.

Thank you,
Your fed up lingerie employee.
