Out with the old, in with the new

Well, it's official.
2008 is long gone!
2009 is here to stay!

I hope you all had a safe and fabulous time ringing in the new year.

Me and my girlfriends decide that no matter where we went or what we did, we wanted to dress up. I ended up finding this perfectly simple dress at Target, from Thakoon's Go International collection. I ended up making a sequined necklace and a couple of bracelets to go with my dress. I paired it up with my current favorite black booties from Forever 21.

In the end, one friend didn't get the memo and another's dress didn't end up working out for her. Regardless, we were all heading to the same party!

Birthday, Take Two

Friday night, Ashlea and I held a joint birthday party to celebrate turning 23. First, we all went out to dinner. After dinner, we all met up at Rico and Dan's house for a black and white themed party.

Birthday Dinner
Dinner at Mikado

I had the birthday roll at dinner. It was alright, but definitely my least favorite of all the sushi I've ever tried. We're pretty sure that we scared the other group out of the private room because we were being too loud. Our server was fantastic. He was super friendly and he did a great job handling our group all by himself. He even handed out trainers for the chopsticks for the people that didn't know how to use them.

I had an absolute blast that night, it was a great birthday. Thanks to everyone that shared it with me!

Steph was so kind to mention today that I've been slacking in my blog posting lately. Here are some photos from a party a couple of weekends ago.

Halloween Costume Party

Steph and Norman threw a costume party at their house this past weekend. I adore Halloween and I loved seeing everyone in their costumes. I was also excited to wear the Vampire costume that I made this year. I spent a lot of time making the skirt, but the necklace was really easy to make. I also made a cape to wear, but ended up not liking it so it's just sitting in my bedroom. I found the red, ruffled shirt for my costume at Forever 21. The studded mary-janes came from Forever 21 as well. I got the tights and coffin clutch from the costume store.

Here are some photos from the party:

Norman and Chaz's costumes were cracking me up. They were way too funny!

It's so weird seeing these pictures of me, I think the pale makeup just makes me look sick in these photos. I purchased the cheapest mineral foundation I could find in the lightest color they had, I also used some white sparkly powder to pull off the vampire look. I had a blast doing my hair and makeup. I'm so glad I decided not to wear a wig.

You can't see it in this photo, but Sean has bite marks on his neck. He was dressed as my victim. Sean and Adiel
Almost the very first thing that happened when I got to the party was the necklace that I made broke, so that is why I'm not wearing it in any pictures. I also didn't get any pictures of the back of my skirt, which is my favorite part.

I kept taking my teeth out to talk because they made me lisp so I ended up dropping my teeth and they broke! I have to get them fixed before the costume parties on actual Halloween! I'm planning on dressing up at work even though I'll probably be the only one since Marrdy is gone now.

Weekend recap.

Its that time again...

Friday, I went with a few people to P.F. Chang's for dinner. This was my second time ever going there and I quite enjoyed it. Later we went to a movie at The Gateway, which let out not too long after the Jazz game. Lucky us, we got stuck in the post-game traffic jam. It made me majorly carsick and I ended up having to call it a night at that point.

Saturday was Stephanie's bridal shower. It was good to see lots of girls from high school that I hadn't seen or talked to in a while. After the shower, Nicole and I went to the mall. I purchased the shoes that won in the Help me Choose from last week. I also purchased some great spring/summer clothes. The day ended up taking a lot out of me so I bailed out on my evening plans and just took it easy at home.

Sunday morning, Traci, Mike and I went for a run. The weather was gorgeous. It felt so good to be outside in the sun. I got cocky and tried to race Mike at the end, but he totally beat me.

Later I went to Tonya's farewell party/Mike's graduation party. Kellie had so much good food there. I probably ate 42 strawberries! We watched the Jazz throw away the first game against the Lakers. I can't stand watching Kobe Bryant's smug face when he plays. I was hoping that the Jazz would win so I could see Andy do a headstand. I guess I'll just have to wait for the next game. I had a great time meeting all of Mike and Tonya's friends and family. I'm really going to miss Tonya when she is gone!

After the party, I was ready for bed I guess because I went home and passed out.

Not as eventful as some of the others, but it was a good one!
