The little house on memory lane...

Sorry, that Elliott Smith song totally comes to my mind right now...
Saw this over on Jules' blog, it sounds fun so I thought I'd do it. You'd better do it too, even if its only a memory from cyberspace!

1. As a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember!

2. Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty funny to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you!

Comment moderation

I've had comment moderation on my mind for quite some time now. I'm not quite sure what the best way to deal with it is. So I thought I'd ask my readers, you. What do you think?

Points to ponder...
  • I don't think that I have enough traffic to attract comment spammer bots so the word verifcation seems to be over the top. Even if I did, how hard would it be to just delete that comment?
  • Anonymous comments are fine with me except I like to know what kinds of people are interested in reading and commenting on my blog. I'm a curious person like that.
  • Comment approval may take some time for me, especially over weekend when I rarely get on an actual computer.
  • I personally despise having to type out those lame word verifications on other peoples' blogs, so it is a bit hypocritical of me to have the same thing on my blog, right?

Go ahead an make your choices, yes that is plural, on my poll.
Feel free to elaborate on your choices in the comment section on this post.

I hope I get to the bottom of this!

Featured Blogger wrap-up

Well my day in the spotlight is over and what a lovely day it was.

I love statistics, so here are some statistics for you to analyze.
  • 300 visitors (81.3% new) versus the day with the next highest number of visitors in the last 30 days, 142.
  • 854 page views!
  • The top viewed page as well as the top commented page was I ask this favor of you.
  • No new subscribers to my blog sadly, its holding firmly at 9. I had been hoping to raise that number.
  • 238 comments received total

I got to hear from a lot of fun and interesting people and it was a joy to do so.
If you commented yesterday, make sure you check out my posts containing responses to the comments I received.

In my free time I will be checking out the blogs belonging to all the people that commented so you may see me around sometime soon!

Thanks to all the SITStas that made my day great!

Things that made my day.

Happy Monday! Here comes another work week!

-Being featured on The Secret is in the Sauce! I adored what Heather said about me on there! I love knowing she enjoys those features of my blog.

-Comments galore! I promise, I will respond to all of you! I hope you saw something you liked and will return again!

-Getting invited to Cozycot.com. If you have an interest in beauty or fashion, you should sign up!

-Marrdy called Leona Lewis "Louisa Lancock." She's so funny!

-No panty hell/heaven today! That means I get to catch up on responding to all the comments that I got today.

-Two of the VV brothers showed up to work today in nearly identical outfits. I think they're single-handedly trying to save Steve & Barry's from bankruptcy.

Revisiting "I don't hate smokers, I hate the things they do"

One of my posts that was featured on The Secret is in the Sauce today is "I don't hate smokers, I hate the things they do." With how many SITS girls there were leaving comment love, there were enough that validated a response that I decided to make it a post rather than a comment response. If you haven't already read that post, catch up by reading it, the comments and then come back for my responses.

4 under 4, Heather and Hot Tub Lizzy, That is so sad and disturbing! Poor kids with the second hand smoke!

And Baby Will Make 4, Great idea! I'll have to think about that...

lemonologie, I couldn't agree more. Even going outside isn't always going to make me happy.

Mrs. S, no need to apologize, rant away. That is so sad about your asthma! I hope your mom can find the will to quit someday!

Kat, that is so terrible! I guess that's what happens when people assume!

Dawn, you're right on that one! I guess opening the window if their kids are in the car is the least they could do.

Stephanie, That's so awesome! I've always said that I'd never date anyone that smoked either.

The Blaisdell Family, Right on! I completely agree. Technically its their right to smoke in the great out doors, but I still don't appreciate having to breathe it.
Also, good question on the return. All I know is that my manager approved the return.

Two Lines on a Stick, that is one crazy lady!! I would judge a women that smoked while pregnant to the end of this earth!

Me, I guess some people can't practice what they preach.

Cara Starr, yeah, I unfortunately have to deal with that stuff far more frequently than I would like to admit. Gross.

Jyll, its great to hear a response from the point of view of a smoker. I'm with you on the other points you made regarding the rude and unhealthy habits some people form. I would never generalize the situation as by saying EVERY smoker out there is rude and inconsiderate. As with any of life situations, every person is different.

Sooz, Unfortunately ventilation has the nasty habit of circulating many unpleasant odors.

Now this post was the least commented on and I truly hope it isn't because I offended anyone out there. These are just my personal rants about some things I've seen my 22 years of being alive. As with people in general, I'm fully aware that not every smoker is a clone of the next one in line. I have known some closet smokers that are mortified by their addiction and would do anything not to let other people find out. Some people just have bad habits with things, and these are, in my opinion, bad habits from some smokers. I guess the original post should've been labeled "I don't hate smokers, I hate the things some of them do."

Thanks for all the comment love!

Revisiting "Lets talk nicknames"

One of my posts that was featured on The Secret is in the Sauce today is "Lets talk nicknames." With how many SITS girls there were leaving comment love, there were enough that validated a response that I decided to make it a post rather than a comment response. If you haven't already read that post, catch up by reading it, the comments and then come back for my responses.

WheresMyAngels, Yes, kids do suck. In 4th grade on of my classmates called me faggot-el. Real clever, right?
"G" would be kinda of cool if it didn't sound so gangsta. ;)

Givinya De Elba, Thanks, glad you're loving the layout. I used to think black was easy to read on, but I like this better.
A great mom, huh? Maybe, I guess I could give it a try someday!

Tara, hope that you didn't hate the nickname "T"!

Cristin, Creepy is a peculiar nickname, at least it has a cute story behind it. I used to call my brother Adam "Amo" when he was born because I was only a little over a year old when he was born. That one has stuck around with our mother.

Heather, I have an aunt named Pamela, but her nickname is Patty. I never understood it, but I guess Charlie Brown's friend, Peppermint Patty, her real name is Pamela. At least that's how the explained it.
I also have a cousin Heather. We call her Heath/Heth and feather heth. I don't mind your comment ramblings one bit!

Wendy, if only violence was the answer with this one... ;)

Chandra Stauffer, I'm thrilled that you're adding me to your reader. I'll try to continue deserving the description of "a hoot"!

Hot Tub Lizzy, if you ever do feel ready to share, let me know!

Kat, she still calls me Orny, but no one else does, thank goodness!

Jill, oh my gosh, I never thought of it like that, but you're right. That'd be terrible!

Deanna, Thank you! :)

Half-Past Kissin' Time, I'm glad you put that stranger in her place! Some people...

sassy stephanie, my sister is also named Stephanie. I call her Steph. I wonder how she feels about that...

Me, Your nicknames are pretty funny!

Sonya, glad you're planning on coming back! I'll look forward to hearing from ya!

Kristen and Peggy, Thanks! I do love my unique name!

Swirl Girl, Hot and Juicy! That makes me laugh. Sorry you had to deal with it. I kinda like the Wahltah too ;)

Karol, poor you! You with your Klassy job and nicknames! I feel for you!

Jenni, I'm sure you get a lot of the Forrest Gump Jenny pronunciation as well.

Ronnica, cool name and nickname. I know what you mean about feeling special though.

Stephanie, I called my little sister Step-on-me to bug her when we were kids. I feel bad now! haha
Sorry sis!

Gina, I love the BB nickname story!

Jennifer P, yeah most people don't have a clue when it comes to my name. I guess that is something I'll live with for life. Oh well.

Hairline Fracture, yeah nicknames can sure take some people by surprise!

WheresMyAngels, sorry to disappoint. I think that's why it wasn't up there in the first place, its not really that interesting.

Melissa Lester, I adore terms of endearment. My ex had a lot of good ones for me. The thing about them though is that you shouldn't really use them too much in public.

insta-mom, I'm thrilled that I almost induced a "beverage through the nose incident". What an ego boost!

Perez Family Spot, I've made up names at restaurants before. Sometimes I use my middle name, or my date's name. Lately, I've been using the name Tonya, as in my former co-worker because everywhere I go for lunch has her name in their system already.

SBelle, I'm curious as to where tidbit came from now.

Simply Stork, I may or may not answer to them all, depends on how recently I've been called it.

Revisiting "I ask this favor of you"

One of my posts that was featured on The Secret is in the Sauce today is "I ask this favor of you." With how many SITS girls there were leaving comment love, there were enough that validated a response that I decided to make it a post rather than a comment response. If you haven't already read that post, catch up by reading it, the comments and then come back for my responses.

WheresMyAngels, thanks for calling me humorous! I'm always surprised when people think I'm funny.

Givinya De Elba, I too wish people would read this post and act accordingly.

Tara, I hadn't thought about it like that, but you're so right!

4 under 4, I'm so glad you'll be back!

Chandra Stauffer, Thanks! I'm glad you like the name of my blog. I don't hate when people come in to get their free panty, I just hate when they expect more than what is written exactly on the coupon.

Hot Tub Lizzy, I'm glad that I'm not the only one that hates heelies.

Caroline, I'd fully back a letter to all all heelie owners.

Kat, I'm so glad that there are sane mothers out there that don't give their children tools to annoy the rest of the human population. Yeah, some people just don't get that every body is different.

Rene, Thanks for calling me funny! :) My ex-boy was always embarrassed to visit me there or go in there with me. Too funny.

And Baby Will Make 4, I always find myself unconsciously straightening things on hangers and such.

Deanna, I hope you like the rest of what you read!

Mrs. S, I'm glad you plan on coming back!

Half-Past Kissin' Time, That site sounds cool! I'm going to have to check it out asap!

Trashalou, I think I'd miss blogging if I became Queen of the World, but I'm glad that you'd nominate me for that. ;)

Jen, once again, I can't hear it enough that you think I'm funny!

Memarie Lane, actually, the swimwear rule would only apply to the panties. You're right, trying a bra on over a bra would not give an accurate idea of fit. Definitely try it on without a bra, but make sure to handwash it before wear.

sassy stephanie, I'm always amused by the shy guys being dragged around through the store.

Ann, thanks for the compliment on my writing. My english teachers would be so proud. ;) A book, good idea! I'll have to take some notes!

The Blaisdell Family, thanks for the compliment. I'm glad you find me funny!

Sonya, you are right on all counts! :)

Missy, that is way too funny that you said that back in your retail days!

Jaime H, I once had a supervisor there that made a customer clean up her child's mess. I had to go in the back I was laughing so hard.

Cara Starr, I can promise you, the bra fitting is quick and its worth it. They'll come in the room to check and before you know it, it'll be over and you'll have a brand new bra that fits.

Ronnica, Thanks, I'm glad you like the layout!

Jennifer P, I don't have to imagine, I've been there, done that. ;)

insta-mom, good rule to always bring a friend.

mrsbear0309, Yes, great perks. Freebies and big time discounts. Love 'em!

Perez Family Spot, luckily I only can work till 10:30 because I have two other jobs, therefore, not staying till 3 am. :)

Simply Stork, oh yes, whatever you may be imagining, I'm sure its happened. Washing everything is a great plan!

Everyone else, thank you so much for stopping by, I hope to see you visiting again!
