300!

Well, looks like this here is my 300 post! I've not really celebrated any milestones on my blog before, but I just thought it worth mentioning today.

When I first started my blog, I wasn't really sure what direction I wanted to take or what I would even write about. I had been lurking other people's blogs for months. I had wanted to start my own blog, but didn't think I'd have anything worth posting about.

Then one day, I came across some blogger etiquette tips somewhere. One of them said that if you leave comments on some one's blog, it's proper to have your own blog that they can go to should they want to. That made me think, maybe I should start a blog after all.
So I did.

The name "It's because I think too much" is pretty self explanatory. I think a lot about a lot of different things. I liked it because it left it pretty open as to what I might write about. I'm not a mommy, so it's not a mommy blog. I'm not married so it's not one of those I heart my husband blogs. I have so many different interests, so I can really make it limited to one theme. I'm sure the long time readers of this blog know that you can never be sure what to expect from me.

My first post in November 2007 was just a rant about about social networking sites. I didn't really like the direction that this led me in, I didn't want it to be a rant and rave blog like my myspace blog had been. No one wants to read pure negativity. So my blog writing went away.

In January 2008, I started up again with a bunch of random posts. It just kind of picked up from there. My posts have mostly followed the events of my life and my current obsessions since then. Some days I post like crazy, others I might not post at all.

300 posts later, I've received my first award. Veggie Mom over at Eat Your Veggies! has bestowed upon me the "Sharing the Love" award.

This award was created by Crystal, who's son Noah received a heart transplant. She created it in honor of the donor that saved her son's life.

In order to accept this award, I have to link back to Crystal's Blog and then share the award with other blogs that I read and love. There are a lot of deserving blogs to choose from, but here are a few that I want to share the love with.
It's my life...
Hold onto your heart. Hold onto your hope.
Life in Limbo

Thanks again to Veggie Mom for sharing this award with me!
Enjoy!

Random Thoughts

I've got a couple of things on my mind lately, nothing really big that deserves its own post though. I'm going to get it all out here and now.

-----

I'm no blogging expert and I'm not a well known blogger by any means, but something has struck me kind of funny in my blog world recently. For now, I'm going to be vague about the details, There is a blog that I've subscribed to and read as often as they update. Recently one of their authors commented on one of my posts, stating that I was the first to bring this particular situation to her knowledge. The next day, she had written up a post about the same situation, reporting it to her readers without mentioning her source at all.
Do I have any right to be bothered?
I can't decide.

-----

Recently I've discovered blogs of people that I thought were friends have become private. Naturally, I'm bothered because I loved keeping up with their lives. After all, I was under the impression that we were friends. Now, I'm sure the switch to private was for safety and security reasons, I get that. I just was kind of stunned that I wasn't someone they deemed safe enough to read about their lives.
Maybe I'm just far too unfamiliar with the whole private blogs thing.
Its possible.

I just wanted to share a few things about my blogroll. I use blogrolling.com to manage my blogrolls, I actually have two of them. They are display in this order on my blog: "People that link back to me" and "People that don't link back to me". I figure that the people that link to me deserve higher priority on the list than people that don't, right? Next, blogrolling has all sorts of settings to implement on my blogroll. The first list is set to display the top 15 of X amount of the most recently updated blogs. The second is set to display 7 different random blogs each time my page is loaded.
Anyway, my point is, if you want to be on my blogroll, let me know. If you want to be at the top of my blogroll, make sure you link back to me and get to updating!

I ordered two pairs of shoes from Nine West last friday. I hadn't been too impressed with them so far. First of all, they haven't updated my order page since the day I ordered them. Second, one of the pairs of shoes I ordered was on backorder. I despise stores that don't notify you at the time of purchase when items are on backorder. I don't think its very good business practice. Well as I'm typing this up, the cute UPS guy shows up with one of the pairs of shoes that I ordered. I was pleased a bit because I love surprises. However, I was never even given notification that my order was shipped, no contact whatsoever. I think Nine West needs to bring their customer service up to the same level as the quality of their product.
More on the new shoes later...

I accidentally deleted my clustrmap! (see bottom of my sidebar)
I had 2,800+ visitors since May 7th from places all over the world. Now I have nothing.
So sad.

-----

Finally, I've seen many blogs across the blogosphere that have been doing Q & A sessions. They seem so fun to me so I'm going to jump on the bandwagon. Now is your chance to ask me anything you've had on your mind. I don't really mind if they are serious or goofy questions, just get asking.
Later on, I'll do a post listing all of the questions along with their answers.

Thats all for now folks!

A rant about your music, but not an attack.

It started when I was myspace obsessive, on that site in every spare moment I had. The option to have a song play on your profile was introduced. Great, I like music, I like to share my musical interest. Not great, the song started automatically when loading the page. My problem with this comes in two parts. First, If I'm on my computer, I'm already listening to my own music. When other music starts playing on top of mine, its hugely annoying and frankly, a little rude. No one likes to be interrupted or spoken over. Second, in my opinion, the majority of the population has relatively lousy taste in music. Keep in mind, this is only and opinion I have. Myspace eventually introduced the option to not play the music until you click play. Great. Fantastic. Thanks myspace for solving that problem.

Now that I've moved on from the myspace obsession to blogging, I've started encountering this problem again, alarmingly more and more frequently. When I'm leisurely reading blogs as I listen to my music, I'm constantly being surprised with other music interrupting my own music. Most commonly, Its from a playlist.com widget. Great. I think its fine that you like music and want to share your favorite songs with your friends/readers. Perfect. I'm not presuming to tell you to stop doing so.

Here is what I think about the widget. I know nothing about playlist.com, but it appears that there is not an option to not automatically start playing music when the page loads. I find this very agitating. I really hope that if this is indeed an option, you will all take a minute to select this option for your playlist if you have one. If not, this is a plead with playlist.com to make this option available. Honestly, without that option, it almost makes me want to move along to some other blog/site without reading what you have to say.

I've been having this particular rant on my mind for a few years now. I've put off sharing it for the reason that I've been worried it would come across as an attack to anyone with music on their website, page, blog, etc. This is not my intent. I simply want to share my point of view so that you might see why some people might not like it. Let me compare it to video ads that start playing on a website you're visiting. Annoying, right?

Counter-point anyone?

Reasons not to have children

The whole "reasons not to have children" thing started as me wanting to scare people like my mom into thinking that I might not have children ever. Or maybe it was more for my own entertainment.

Lately I've been reading a lot of blogs written by mothers. Lets just say, I think they might starting to be scaring me for real. After reading a post on InSaNiTy At ItS bEst today, I've found another reason to worry.

Reason #4 not to have children:
They throw up on you, on your clothes and sometimes in your clothes.

Blog Stalkers

My co-worker has developed a new hobby over the last few months; Blog stalking. She reads everyone's blogs, complete strangers even. She's probably read yours as a matter of fact.

It got me to thinking, according to the stats I'm getting from feedburner, I've got a lot blog stalkers.

So this goes out to you Mr. or Ms. blog stalker. I encourage you to come out of your shell and say hello. I don't care if I don't know you or if you're my worst enemy, I'd love to see what you have to say. I love a little feedback.

Say hello!

I'm not gonna lie, I think I have an obsession.

Ever since the first time I saw a commercial for the new show "Lost", I've loved it. I remember the chills I got watching the Losties as they heard Danielle's transmission and Charlie asking, "Guys, where are we?" At that commercial break, I ran up the stairs to tell my sister and her friend how much I loved that show. Basically, I've been a huge fan from day one.

During season one, I used to lurk on the abc.com message boards, not really participating, but still being fascinated with the theories that were concocted on those boards. I listened to the podcasts as they came out as well. Seasons 2, I just stuck to watching what was shown on tv, but toward the end of season 3, my obsession began. I started reading up things online again, created a lost group on Kaboodle.com and I now own the first 3 seasons on DVD. I now have some friends and family that watch the show with me so I can discuss the show with them.

The wait for season 4 to begin was agonizingly long. However, in that time I discovered lostpedia.com. I spent days reading information on that website. One thing that really interested me on there was The Lost Experience ARG. I had had no idea that such a thing had gone on, was sad that I missed out on it but was glad for the complete recap on lostpedia.com. Reading up on that led me to discover find815.com halfway through the second week of the game. This game took up those final weeks of waiting for season 4 to begin. During that game, I rediscovered darkufo.blogspot.com which I had only been to a time or two before.

This is where my obsession really gets bad. I read up on lost almost every day. I'm constantly reading articles on lostpedia and I've subscribed to the RSS feed for darkufo's blog. After the new episode airs on thursdays, I'm on lostpedia right away, reading the episode recap and looking for screencaps. I really hope I don't discover more wonderful Lost sites because if I visit one more Lost website on a daily basis, I think this obsession will cross to the unhealthy side, if it hasn't already.
